University of Hawaii Rainbow Wahine volleyball players Emily Maglio and Kendra Koelsch watched a point hit by Wisconsin Badger fall in the back court in a game on Friday.

Molly Haggerty put down 18 kills and Haleigh Nelson added 14 as No. 4 Wisconsin turned back a late challenge by No. 6 Hawaii to pull out a 25-16, 25-16, 24-26, 25-23 win tonight in the second match of the Chevron Rainbow Wahine Invitational volleyball tournament at the Stan Sheriff Center.

It was the first time that Hawaii lost its home opener since 2008 and it snapped the Wahine’s 13-match home winning streak dating back to last season.

Freshman Kirsten Sibley had 14 kills and junior Emily Maglio added 12 for Hawaii. Junior libero Savanah Kahakai tied her career high with 23 digs.

In today’s opener, senior hitter Brooke Sassin put down 14 kills and Kansas State took advantage of Arizona’s passing problems to win the battle of the Wildcats, 25-21, 25-16, 20-25, 25-18.
