New Nobu opens Friday at Ward Village

Chef Nobu Matsuhisa’s newest restaurant — Nobu Honolulu — opens Friday in the Ward Village master-planned community, the company announced today.
The restaurant’s original Oahu location, in the Waikiki Parc Hotel, closes tonight, with the restaurant making the move to the ground floor of the Waiea residential building.
In a statement Matsuhisa called Ward Village “the perfect place for Nobu.”
The 11,000-square-foot space includes an outdoor bar, open kitchen and teppanyaki room, one of the few in the Nobu chain.
The menu preserves such signature dishes as Black Miso Cod and Yellowtail Jalapeno, and introduces several exclusive to the location: spicy lomi salmon with taro chips, oven-roasted local shrimp with ginger shiso salsa, and Ribeye Umamiyaki, served with root vegetables from local Ma’o Farms.
The leadership team from Nobu Waikiki will move to Ward — chef Matt Raso, sushi chef Yoshio Ono and Yuka Hinoda Raso, general manager.

Hmm… I’m sure the food is going to be great but these type of restaurants are not geared for the typical middle class patrons of Hawaii. Well, perhaps I’m just speaking for myself but my family and I probably cannot afford to dine there and we’re considered middle class (slightly above the median income for the Islands).
agree..my young BOH executive friend will take me here next week. I will report back on the food!

Pretty sure the middle class is not their target audience………look at the condo building they are housed in. Units there START at nearly 2 million and go all the way up to 38 million.

Shucks, I was hoping for a reprise of the Nobu’s Okazu-ya that was housed for a couple of decades on Wai’alae Ave. across from Kaimuki Park. I bet this one doesn’t offer cone sushi.
They do but it’s $50 each.
