High-surf advisory in effect for most of Hawaii

A high-surf advisory is in effect for east-facing shores of most islands through Sunday afternoon.

The National Weather Service in Honolulu issued the advisory through 6 p.m. Sunday, noting that surf of 5 to 8 feet is expected along east shores of Oahu, Maui, Kauai, Hawaii island and Molokai.

Officials warn that swimming can be difficult and dangerous with strong longshore and rip currents possible, as well as strong breaking waves.

Kalapana Left Point, Drainpipes, Keikis, Kalapana all should be breaking awesome – but wait! The volcano ate them all 30 years ago … …. … What a shame.
