One dead, two injured after head-on collision on Big Island
A 34-year-old woman is dead and a 66-year-old man and a 63-year-old woman were injured after a head-on collision on the Big Island.
The collision happened on Highway 11 just north of the 96 mile marker in Kona at around 7:20 p.m. last night, according to Big Island police.
The younger woman was found pinned on the driver side of a compact car while the man was pinned on the driver side of a mid size truck and the older woman was found laying on the road.
Police closed Highway 11 in both directions until 1:48 a.m.
Investigators are looking into the cause of the collision.

So where is the 96 mile marker? How about telling us how many miles from Kailua-Kona, Waimea, Waikoloa junction, etc.
The police alert said “between the 96 and 97 mile markers south of Ho’okena”.
