Police closed part of Farrington Highway in the town-bound direction in Makakilo this afternoon because of a brush fire.

Police said the two east-bound lanes of the highway were closed between Honokai Hale and the Campbell Industrial offramp for fire trucks staging on the roadway.

East-bound traffic was being contraflowed onto one west-bound lane of traffic, police said.

The fire was reported at about noon on the ocean side of the highway.
