Hawaii defensive end Jamie Tago is suspended from participating in spring football practice because he “violated team rules,” head coach Nick Rolovich confirmed today.

University of Hawaii defensive end Jamie Tago is suspended from participating in spring football practice because he “violated team rules,” head coach Nick Rolovich confirmed today.

Tago remains on scholarship and is allowed to attend classes. It has not been determined when or if he will be reinstated.

Tago is considered one of the top prospects of the Rainbow Warriors’ 2017 recruiting class.

Tago, who is 6 feet 3 and 260 pounds, initially signed with UH in February 2014. He was with the Warriors for the 2014 and 2015 season but departed during the 2016 spring semester because of non-football circumstances.

This past season, he amassed 71 tackles, including 22 tackles for losses and 9.5 sacks, in leading Garden City (Kan.) College to an 11-0 record and junior college national championship.

Tago re-committed to the Warriors the past December and enrolled at UH in January.
