Motorcyclist who died in crash near Sandy’s identified

A 34-year-old man who died in a single-motorcycle crash near Sandy Beach has been identified as Antonio Saunders.

Saunders, of Honolulu, died Sunday from blunt force injuries to the neck, according to the Honolulu Medical Examiner’s Office. The manner of death was classified as an accident.

Police said Saunders was operating a Honda motorcycle on Kalanianaole Highway when he failed to negotiate a turn. The motorcycle struck a guardrail, ejecting Saunders onto the roadway.

He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Saunders was wearing a helmet at the time of the crash.
