Man slashed across the neck at North Shore market

Police arrested a 54-year-old man after he allegedly slashed another man’s neck with a dangerous instrument at a grocery store in Haleiwa.

Shortly before 5:30 p.m. Tuesday, the suspect attacked the victim, 52, at Malama Market located at 66-190 Kamehameha Highway.

Emergency Medical Services transported the victim to a trauma hospital in serious condition.

Police arrested the 54-year-old man just before 5:50 p.m. on suspicion of attempted second-degree murder and criminal contempt of court.

The suspect has an extensive criminal record of terroristic threatening, harassment, abuse of a family or household member, assault, assault of a police officer, criminal trespassing and disorderly conduct.

Police are continuing their investigation.
