Trio escapes from Waiawa prison

Honolulu police are looking for three inmates who escaped from Waiawa Correctional Facility Tuesday night.

Brian Aquino, Kekoa Aspera and Kamaka Villegas were reported missing from a headcount at about 9 p.m., according to the Department of Public Safety. Correctional officers immediately called the state Sheriff Division and police.

It’s unclear at this time how they escaped the correctional facility.

Aquino, 31, is described as 5-foot-9, 280 pounds with brown hair and brown eyes. He is serving a sentence for first-degree burglary. His parole hearing was scheduled for October.

Aspera, 25, is described as 5-foot-7, 150 pounds with brown hair and brown eyes. He is serving time for first-degree burglary and first-degree theft. His parole hearing was scheduled for September.

Villegas, 34, is described as 5-foot-7, 175 pounds with brown hair and brown eyes. He has tattoos near his right eye and around his neck.

The public safety department said Villegas is serving a sentence for promoting a dangerous drug in the third degree, drug paraphernalia, ownership/possession of a prohibited firearm, auto theft, second-degree robbery, second-degree forgery and promoting prison contraband in the second-degree.

His parole hearing was scheduled to be held in April 2019.

Anyone with information on their whereabouts is urged to call 911 or the state Sheriff Division at 586-1352.
