HPD Capt. Walter Ozeki briefs the media on the latest information on a woman found dead in a Waikiki hotel.

Police arrested a 42-year-old man after a 30-year-old woman was found dead in a Waikiki hotel early this morning.

The man was arrested at the Hilton Waikiki Beach at 2500 Kuhio Ave.

Honolulu Police Department HPD Capt. Walter Ozeki held an afternoon press conference at HPD’s Beretania Street headquarters but released few details about the crime and declined to disclose the relationship between the suspect and victim.

He said the 911 call came in as a “defib” meaning an unresponsive person requiring a defibrillator. The woman, however, could not be revived, and the matter was classified as an unattended death.

The case was reclassified as a second-degree murder, Ozeki said. The man, who was the only other occupant of the hotel room, was arrested on suspicion of second-degree murder.
