Police investigate alleged assault involving 4-year-old
Police are investigating an assault case involving a 4-year-old girl who suffered burns and injuries at a home in Maili.
The assault occurred at a Hila Street residence sometime between 4 p.m. Wednesday and 7 a.m. Thursday. A source said the girl suffered burns from a cigarette and a lighter.
Paramedics responded at about 7:25 a.m. and treated the victim for first and second-degree burns to her lip, arm and hands and an abrasion to her neck.
Emergency Medical Services transported her in serious condition to Kapiolani Medical Center for Women & Children, said EMS spokeswoman Shayne Enright.
Police said the victim was later released from the hospital after she was treated for her injuries.
There are no arrests at this time.
