Hawaii island firefighters recovered a man’s partially decomposed body from a pool below a large waterfall over the weekend in North Kohala.

Shortly before 11 a.m. Sunday, kayakers found the body and called 911, firefighters said.

The kayakers reported a partially decomposed body floating in a pool at the bottom of a waterfall near the coastline south of Honopue Valley.

Firefighters responded and recovered the body. Police were also investigating.
