UH adds basketball recruit from California

Justin Hemsley, a 6-foot, 6-inch wing player from California, tweeted his commitment to the University of Hawaii men’s basketball team this morning.

Hemsley, who attended Damien High in LaVerne, Calif., tweeted, “EXTREMELY excited to announce that I’ve committed to the University of Hawaii.”

Hemsley averaged 16 points and 12 rebounds per game and was a first-team all-California Interscholastic Federation Southern Section Open Division selection.

He was also recruited by Montana, Montana State, Portland, Santa Clara and Utah Valley, according to the ESPN website.

He is the Rainbow Warriors’ fourth recruit for the 2017-‘18 season.

His brother, Jeremy, is a starting guard at San Diego State.
