Honolulu is the third best place to visit in America for its urban areas and beaches, followed by Maui, according to a new report released today by U.S. News & World Report.

The annual rankings of the best vacation spots in the U.S. placed New York City at No. 1 and Philadelphia second best among the states.

Honolulu also ranked No. 13 in world’s best vacation spots for its beaches and culturally significant destinations including Pearl Harbor and Iolani Palace. The city of Rome placed first among 30 destinations worldwide.

The Washington D.C.-based digital news and information company previously ranked Honolulu No. 1 for the best beaches in the U.S. and in the top 10 for affordable wedding venues and the best shopping in America.
