Firefighters contain brush fire near Central Oahu park
Firefighters battled a two-acre brush fire today near Patsy T. Mink Central Oahu Regional Park in Waipahu.
About 20 firefighters responded to the fire near the tennis courts at the park on Kamehameha Highway at about 1:15 p.m., said Honolulu fire Capt. Kevin Mokulehua.
The fire was brought under control at about 1:50 p.m. and firefighters were still at the scene at about 3:45 p.m., extinguishing hot spots within the burned area, he said.
It was not clear if the fire was on park property.
The cause of the fire was unknown.
