Scuba diver who died after being found off Barbers Point identified

A scuba diver who died after he was found unresponsive off Barbers Point has been identified as Steven S. Tanaka.

Tanaka, 68, of Aiea was found unresponsive about a mile from shore Saturday.

He was transported to a hospital in critical condition where he died later that day.

The Honolulu Medical Examiner’s Office said the cause of death was drowning.
