An 8-year-old boy is in serious condition after being run over by a vehicle in the driveway of a strip mall in Waialua Tuesday at about 3:11 p.m., authorities said.

Paramedics treated the boy and transported him by ambulance to an emergency room, said Honolulu Emergency Medical Services spokeswoman Shayne Enright.

The strip mall is adjacent to the Waialua Library. A library worker said based on what he’s heard, the accident was not a hit-and-run.

Correction: An earlier version of this story incorrectly said the boyy was struck in the parking lot of the Waialua Library.
