A 4-year-old boy struck by a pickup truck on Kauai on Sunday has died.

Kauai County officials said today that Albertson Gideon who was flown to Oahu for medical treatment died at Kapiolani Medical Center for Women & Children on Monday from injuries sustained from the traffic crash at Lydgate Beach Park in Wailua.

Gideon was struck by a Nissan pickup truck as the driver was trying to park near the playground restrooms shortly before 5 p.m., police said.

Firefighters and medics performed CPR and Gideon was transported by ambulance to Wilcox Medical Center then flown that evening to Oahu.

Police said the truck driver was not injured and that speed and alcohol do not appear to be factors.
