4 dead in multiple vehicle crash on Maui
Four people died and several others were injured Saturday night in a four-vehicle crash in Kaanapali, Maui police said.
Police said excessive speed was a factor in the crash on Honoapiilani Highway just south of Kekaa Drive at about 6:50 p.m.
Police said the driver of a 2003 Dodge pickup truck heading southbound crossed over a center painted median and slammed head-on into an oncoming 2007 Toyota Camry sedan in the inside lane of the highway.
The car then struck a 2014 Dodge pickup truck in the outer northbound lane, then was struck from the rear by a 2015 Toyota Sienna van also traveling northbound.
The driver of the 2003 pickup and three people from the Camry died at the scene.
The driver of the pickup was identified as Raymundo Hernandez-Ramirez, 52, of Lahaina. He was using a seat belt.

The driver of the Camry, who was using his seat belt, died in the crash. His name was being withheld, pending notification of next of kin.

A 37-year-old Kahului man who was driving the 2014 pickup was using his seat belt and was not hurt.
