2 pedestrians injured, 1 critically, near HPU in Kaneohe

Emergency Medical Services transported two women to a hospital after they were struck by a vehicle in Kaneohe.

Just after 8:15 p.m. Sunday fronting Hawaii Pacific University, police said, a 2011 Toyota Sienna van operated by a 61-year-old man was traveling northbound on Kamehameha Highway when it struck two pedestrians, both 18, while they were walking across the highway in a marked crosswalk.

Paramedics transported one of the pedestrians in critical condition to The Queen’s Medical Center and the second pedestrian in serious condition.

The Toyota driver was uninjured.

Police said speed and alcohol was not involved.
