Johnson leads Rainbows past Sharks in exhibition
Gibson Johnson enjoyed a perfect shooting night, scoring 18 points to lead the University of Hawaii past Hawaii Pacific 90-70 in a college basketball exhibition game Wednesday.
Johnson made all seven of his shots from the floor and all four free throws.
The Sharks’ Jonathan Janssen led all scorers with 19 points.
Mike Thomas added 17 for the Rainbow Warriors, who never trailed after the first few minutes of the game. Leland Green and Drew Buggs each scored 13, and Sheriff Drammeh added 10 for UH.
A turnstile crowd of 1,670 watched at the Stan Sheriff Center.
Larry Lewis — who transferred to HPU from UH after last season — added 15. Darnell Bettis contributed 12 and Niksha Federico 11.

UH starts its regular season Nov. 10 against Arkansas Pine Bluff in the Outrigger Resorts Rainbow Classic.
The Sharks also open Nov. 10, at Alaska Anchorage.
