A high surf advisory for north- and west-facing shores of Niihau, Kauai and Molokai and for north-facing shores of Oahu, Maui and the Big Island remains in effect until 6 p.m. Friday.

The current northwest swell will continue to decline through Friday, but remain above advisory levels, producing elevated surf up to 18 feet along exposed north and west facing shores today, according to weather officials at the National Weather Service.

Beachgoers, swimmers and surfers should take caution and heed all advice from ocean safety officials.

A ridge of high pressure over the islands will keep relatively cool, dry and stable air over the state today and Friday, while a weak cold front is expected on Saturday, bringing a narrow band of clouds and showers, followed by gusty winds and cool, dry air, forecasters said. Winds will diminish Sunday for the Honolulu Marathon, with mostly dry weather.

Temperatures are expected to dip into the mid-60s early Friday morning.

A small craft advisory remains in effect until 6 p.m. tonight.
