A visitor was in critical condition today after he was rescued at Three Tables Beach by Honolulu ocean safety and the fire department personnel.

Shayne Enright, spokesperson with Honolulu Emergency Services Department, said the man, in his 60s, was apparently swimming at the North Shore beach near Waimea when he got into trouble and became unresponsive.

First responders provided cardio pulmonary resuscitation at around 2:45 p.m., she said, and emergency medical services personnel performed advanced life-saving treatment before transporting the man to an area hospital in critical condition.

Enright said surf was small but conditions were windy and choppy. The man is said to be visiting with relatives.
