CJ Covington, a college student from Kailua, will appear on “Wheel of Fortune” this week.

A college student from Kailua is slated to appear Thursday on “Wheel of Fortune.”

CJ Covington, a senior at California Polytechnic State University in San Luis Obispo majoring in communication, began watching “Wheel of Fortune” as a boy but now watches with his roommates, according to a news release. Covington attended Punahou School, his Facebook page says.

Covington won a spot to appear on the show — now in its 35th season — after attending a Wheelmobile event in San Luis Obispo. He hoped to win enough money to launch his own business.

The episode featuring Covington, part of the show’s “America’s Game” series airing this week, will be broadcast at 6:30 p.m. Thursday on KHON.
