The Hawaii Department of Health issued a brown water advisory this morning for Anini Beach on Kauai due to stormwater runoff entering coastal waters.

A previous advisory that included Kalihiwai Bay on Kauai, meanwhile, has been canceled.

Brown water advisories also remain in effect at Kalama Beach in Kailua, Oahu, and on the windward and north shore of Maui, from DT Fleming Beach Park to Hookipa Beach Park.

The state Health Department advises the public to stay out of flood waters and storm water runoff due to possible overflowing cesspools, sewer, manholes, pesticides, animal fecal matter, dead animals, pathogens, chemicals and associated flood debris.

While not all coastal areas may be impacted by runoff, the public is advised to stay out if the water is brown, and to follow up with a primary care physician with any health concerns.

Signs have been posted, and updates are available online.
