Board of Water Supply crews worked to fix a 16-inch water main break on Nimitz Highway at AlaKawa Street.

Honolulu Board of Water Supply crews reopened all lanes on Nimitz Highway this morning just in time for the Independence Day holiday.

Board of Water Supply crews completed repairs to a 16-inch water main at Alakawa Street and Nimitz Highway, on the mauka side of Nimitz.

The main ruptured Monday evening, causing the temporary closure of United Fish Auction and Nico’s Pier 38 in the area. Nico’s will reopen at 10 a.m. and resume happy hour and dinner service, according to a Facebook post.

Water service was restored to affected customers at 11 p.m. Tuesday, the Board of Water Supply said. Water was previously turned off to all businesses in the Pier 38 area and to the Nimitz Business Center.
