A brush fire closed Farrington Highway between Kualakai Parkway and Kahi Mohala today.

Police arrested two people in connection with a fire that burned two acres of brush today along Farrington Highway.

A man and woman, both age 37, were arrested on suspicion of second-degree arson.

The fire, located on a stretch between Kualakai Parkway and Kahi Mohala, was first reported at 4:08 p.m. The Honolulu Fire Department dispatched five units staffed with 17 personnel. The fire was declared contained at 8:45 p.m.

Despite the arrests, an HFD investigation is still underway and the official cause of the blaze has not yet been determined, according to HFD spokesman Capt. Scot Seguirant.
