Rainbow Wahine beat Idaho in 4 sets

Senior hitter McKenna Granato put down 19 kills, passing the 800 mark for her career, and Hawaii defeated Idaho 25-21, 23-25, 25-18, 25-22 in tonight’s second match of the Outrigger Volleyball Classic at the Stan Sheriff Center.

Senior libero Tita Akiu had a career-high 22 digs for the Rainbow Wahine (3-2), who won their third straight. Hawaii ran its record to 21-0 against the Vandals (4-3).

Granato is now at 803 in career kills.

In today’s tournament opener, Portland (7-0) needed just 85 minutes to sweep San Diego State (1-6) 25-18, 25-22, 25-18.

Senior setter-hitter Norene Iosia finished with a double-double (22 assists-13 digs) as well as three of Hawaii’s 10 aces.

Leading the Vandals was senior hitter Kaela Straw, who put down 20 kills.
