High surf advisory for south shores extended to Tuesday evening
A high surf advisory for the south facing shores of all Hawaiian isles has been extended to 6 p.m. Wednesday.
Weather officials said a long-period, south swell generated by a powerful and long-lived storm in the southern hemisphere will gradually decline tonight through Tuesday night.
Surf is expected to reach heights of seven to 10 feet along south facing shores today, then lower to six to eight feet on Tuesday.
The impacts are moderate. Expect strong, breaking waves, shore break and rip currents, making swimming difficult and dangerous. Beachgoers, swimmers, and surfers should exercise caution and heed all advice given by Ocean Safety officials.
