Rebuffed sexual proposition leads to robbery at Waikiki hotel

Police arrested a 29-year-old man after he allegedly took a 60-year-old man’s bag and diamond bracelets at the Sheraton Waikiki Wednesday night.

Police said the victim, who works at a jewelry store, walked into the men’s bathroom at the hotel at 2255 Kalakaua Avenue at approximately 10:55 p.m.

The suspect entered the bathroom, allegedly looked under the stall the victim occupied and asked him to perform oral sex.

Police said the victim told him to get out when the suspect reached under the stall and grabbed the victim’s bag.

The culprit and victim struggled over the bag when at some point the suspect allegedly ripped two diamond bracelets off the victim’s wrist.

The suspect fled with the victim’s belongings. Police said the victim chased him and yelled for help when a good Samaritan detained him.

Police arrested the perpetrator at the hotel on suspicion of robbery in the second degree and violation of privacy in the second degree.
