Serino’s Pizza to close in Manoa, reopen later in same spot
Serino’s Pizza Manoa announced on Dec. 28 that it would be closing next month, adding cryptically in a tweet that “the ‘dough’ will go on with Brian.” The story behind that mysterious message is good news for fans of the store’s thin-crust pizza, calzones, strombolis and more.
Lena Takei said she and fellow Serino’s manager Brian Flanders will reopen just days after the pizzeria’s Jan. 27 closure in the same location at Manoa Marketplace. Though the new enterprise doesn’t yet have a name, Takei said they are aiming for a Feb. 1 opening and that the menu will be largely the same, though the names of the pizzas will change.
The lease is running out on the nearly five-year-old business, Takei said, prompting owner Christian Serino to close up and make plans to open a new restaurant in Florida, where he moved four years ago.
Along with the closing of Serino’s comes the expiration of Fivestars rewards points, which will not carry over to the new business.
