Motorcyclist critically injured in Waimanalo collision
A 60-year-old man was critically injured today in a multi-vehicle traffic collision in Waimanalo.
The incident occurred around 4:05 p.m. on Kalanianaole Highway near Humuniki Street.
According to police, the injured man was riding a Harley Davidson motorcycle northbound on the highway when he swerved to avoid a Toyota SUV in front of him. He clipped the vehicle and veered into the opposite lane and was struck by a Honda SUV.
The Toyota was operated by a 55-year-old woman. Neither she nor two child passengers were injured.
The Honda was operated by a 29-year-old woman. Neither she nor her adult male passenger were injured.
Paramedics transported the motorcyclist to an area hospital in critical condition.

Police said speed, alcohol and drugs were not factors for the operators of the two SUVs. Speed was also determined not to be a factor for the motorcyclist; it is not yet known whether alcohol or drugs may have been factors.
The collision prompted police to close Kalanianaole in both directions for more than 3 hours.
