Hawaii women’s basketball team upsets UC Davis
The Hawaii women’s basketball team rallied to defeat two-time defending conference champion UC Davis 65-60 today at the Stan Sheriff Center.
Forward Kenna Woodfolk scored 19 points in a pivotal matchup against All-Big West first-teamer Morgan Bertsch and point guard Tia Kanoa supplied 15 points, eight rebounds and seven assists for UH (5-10, 1-1 BWC). Kanoa grabbed two big offensive rebounds late to give her team a lift.
Davis (9-6, 1-1) had its six-game winning streak snapped. The Aggies, who led by five going into the fourth quarter, had defeated the Wahine four straight times going back to the 2016-17 season.
Bertsch fouled out with 29 points on 13-for-28 shooting. She missed her final four shots and Woodfolk and Kanoa put the game away at the free-throw line, where UH was 18-for-22 (81.8 percent).
