Hawaii baseball rallies to beat Oregon
Daylen Calicdan ripped a three-run double to rally the Hawaii baseball team to a dramatic 7-6 victory tonight over Oregon at Les Murakami Stadium.
Oregon, which entered with the nation’s third-best RPI, built leads of 4-0, 6-2 and, in the eighth, 6-4.
But catcher Tyler Murray drew a walk from Christian Ciufetelli, the Ducks’ sixth pitcher. Pinch hitter Brennen Hancock then singled to center. Scotty Scott hit an opposite-field single to left to load the bases.
Calicdan then drilled a pitch past third baseman Sam Novitske and down the left-field line to give the ’Bows their first lead of the game.
By winning their sixth in a row, the ’Bows improved to 8-5. The Ducks fell to 7-4, with each of their losses by one or two runs.
Colin Ashworth pitched the final two innings to earn the victory.
