Windward residents urged to conserve water after 30-inch water main break

The Board of Water Supply is urging residents from Kaneohe to Kahuku to conserve water following a 30-inch water main break on Friday evening in Punaluu.

The break occurred in the area of 53-480 Haleaha Road and Kamehameha Highway.

Water should be used for essential needs such as personal use and cooking. About 25 homes and three hydrants are without water in the area.

The water main break also caused a Hawaiian Electric Co. pole to lean severely, which caused an outage for 29 customers on Haleaha Road on Friday.

HECO was able to transfer service to a different line so that most customers are not experiencing a loss of power.
