Flood advisory canceled for Oahu

The National Weather Service in Honolulu has canceled this morning’s flood advisory for Oahu as of 10:22 a.m.

The National Weather Service in Honolulu has issued a flood advisory for Oahu until 11:30 a.m. today.
At 8:25 a.m., the radar indicated heavy showers near Mililani with rain falling at a rate of 2 to 3 inches per hour. The advisory said showers are moving along very quickly to the east at 25 mph.
Wind gusts of up to 40 mph are also possible, according to the alert. High wind gusts reportedly toppled a tree along Maunawili Road today.
Locations in the advisory include but are not limited to Honolulu, Hauula, Waimanalo, Mililani, Wahiawa, Waialua, Schofield Barracks, Kaneohe Marine Base, Hawaii Kai, Palolo, Kahaluu and Ahuimanu.

The Hawaii Department of Transportation posted a tweet at 9:19 a.m. warning motorists to drive with caution on the H-3 freeway and Likelike Highway.

The advisory warned people to stay away from streams, drainage ditches and low-lying areas prone to flooding.
“Rainfall and runoff will also cause hazardous driving conditions due to ponding, reduced visibility and poor braking action,” the advisory said. “Do not cross fast flowing or rising water in your vehicle, or on foot. Turn around, don’t drown.”
The flood advisory may be extended beyond 11:30 a.m. if heavy rain continues.
