Woman, 54, critically injured in Hauula crash

Honolulu police say a 54-year-old woman was critically injured this morning in a single motor vehicle crash in Hauula.

According to police, the woman was traveling northbound on Kamehameha Highway at a high rate of speed at approximately 5:48 a.m. when she lost control of her vehicle as it failed to negotiate a bend in the roadway and struck a utility pole.

The woman was transported to a nearby hospital in critical condition. Speed appears to be a factor in this incident; police have not determined if alcohol or drugs were factors.

An investigation is ongoing.
