Swimmer drowns in Lekeleke Bay on Hawaii island

A Lekeleke Bay swimmer on Hawaii island drowned after being reportedly in distress while swimming this morning.

Hawaii County fire personnel arrived on the scene at 9:44 a.m. to a double hulled canoe carrying the 75-year-old male.

A medical unit met the canoe at Keauhou Pier and performed life-saving measures. He was then transported to the Kona Community Hospital emergency room.
