Maui police on Friday charged a 61-year-old Lahaina man with second-degree murder in the death of a man whose body was found on the shoulder of Wainee Street just before 7 a.m. Thursday.

David Richard Stevens was arrested Thursday and remained in police custody, unable to post $500,000 bail.

The victim’s name has not been released, as police were still trying to notify his next of kin. Police said he appeared to have been assaulted and had visible injuries to his face and head.
