What will be your top priority if elected?

Improving the way government functions to better serve the people.

As Hawaii faces the COVID-19 pandemic, what more can be done to protect residents’ health?

testing, contact tracing, common sense

What more can be done to help residents who have been economically affected by the COVID-19 pandemic?

get the economy back up and running

Should public worker furloughs, pay cuts or downsizing be used to help the state deal with lower tax revenues and higher expenses during the pandemic? Why or why not?

Government is too big. There are many ways to cut spending. If you ain’t got it, don’t borrow it or spend it. Honor past agreements, but work to streamline processes and procedures.

Hawaii’s tourism-dependent economy has suffered greatly due to the pandemic. If elected, what would you propose to support and diversify the state’s economy?

Encourage agriculture through fewer regs, fees and taxes. Offer something other than a college pipeline in high school. Reduce taxes and fees on businesses.

Do you support reforms to policing in Hawaii? If yes, please explain what reforms you support.

There is always room for improvement and constructive change. Greater public visibility on rogue cops. Better training. Better equipment. Less union influence.

Do you support or oppose the construction of the Thirty Meter Telescope on the Big Island and why?

Support. It is managed well, supported by the courts, adds to human knowledge of the solar system, has no adverse effect on the environment, and helps diversify Hawaii’s economy.

Is there anything more that you would like voters to know about you?

I am not your typical politician. Support term limits and voter approved pay raises for all politicians. Gut and replace should not be allowed. All proposed bills should at least be heard by all member of a committee. People should know how their representative votes. Legislative session should be extended with no increase in salaries. Counties should have more say in local affairs. Want something different? Tired of the same-O, same-O. Vote Fogel.
