Tay Emmett Kealakai Carson, 44, of Kamuela.

Hawaii island police have arrested and charged a Kamuela man with numerous identity theft related offenses stemming from a vehicle break-in that occurred Monday in the Waimea area.

Police charged Tay Emmett Kealakai Carson, 44, of Kamuela, with unauthorized entry into a motor vehicle, two counts of habitual property crime, theft of credit cards, unauthorized possession of confidential information, two counts of fraudulent use of a credit card, attempted fraudulent use of a credit card, first degree theft, and four counts of third-degree identity theft and attempted identity theft.

On Tuesday afternoon, patrol officers responded to a report of items stolen from a car parked in front a Waimea home.

Police investigated, and discovered that a wallet with bank cards was taken from the victim’s vehicle, resulting in several fraudulent transactions at several Waimea businesses. Officers were able to identify the suspect as Carson.

Police found Carson and arrested him at a home on Kamamalu Street in Waimea without incident.
