Woman, 63, hit by truck on Thanksgiving night in Kahaluu in critical condition

A 63-year-old female pedestrian struck by a truck in Kahaluu was taken to the hospital in critical condition on Thanksgiving night, according to police.

Police said at about 8:25 p.m., a Nissan pickup truck traveling Kaneohe-bound on Kamehameha Highway fronting the Hygienic Store struck the woman, who was not in a marked crosswalk.

The 30-year-old driver of the truck was not injured, and remained at the scene.

Emergency Medical Services personnel responded to the scene Thursday night and provided the woman with advanced medical treatment for possible head injuries then took her to a hospital.

At this time, police said speed, drugs, or alcohol do not appear to be factors in the collision. It remains unknown whether drugs or alcohol were factors for the pedestrian.

The investigation is ongoing.
