Man, 48, charged with attempted murder after Waikiki stabbing
Prosecutors charged a 48-year-old man with attempted murder in Saturday’s stabbing of a 61-year-old man in Waikiki.
Malialei S. Jahad was charged Monday with second-degree attempted murder. His bail is set at $75,000.
Police said the men were involved in an argument at about 8:45 p.m.. The argument escalated and the suspect stabbed the victim once in the chest with a knife, police added.
The suspect and victim are not known to one another.
Emergency Medical Services personnel responded to the 1700 block of Ala Moana Boulevard and conducted lifesaving treatment on the victim.
He was taken in critical condition to a hospital. The victim’s condition has since improved to stable.

Police said the suspect later identified as Jahad fled the scene. Officers later located him a short distance from the scene and arrested him on suspicion of attempted murder.
