A 34-year-old California visitor had to be airlifted from the Manoa Falls Trail this morning after injuring her ankle, the Honolulu Fire Department said.

The woman, who was hiking with her husband, was hurt after falling on the trail around 8 a.m. today.

Five units with about 20 HFD personnel responded to a 911 call made at 8:02 a.m., with first responders arriving on scene seven minutes later. Rescue specialists hiked up the trail and located the woman at 8:23 a.m.

After administering first aid and securing the woman, HFD airlifted the woman to a landing zone at Manoa District Park, where she was transferred to Honolulu Emergency Medical Services care at 8:53 a.m.

HFD didn’t say if the woman’s husband was also transported via helicopter, or if he was able to hike out on his own.
