Man, 41, hospitalized after collapsing on beach at Kahe Point

A 41-year-old man who collapsed today on the sand at Electric Beach was transported to an emergency room in critical condition.

Honolulu Ocean Safety reported it was on routine patrol at Kahe Point Beach Park when lifeguards responded to assist the man just before 3 p.m.

The man was not in the water at the time of the incident, Ocean Safety noted.

Lifeguards performed cardiopulmonary resuscitation on the unresponsive man and administered advanced breathing treatment and medication.

The Honolulu Fire Department along with paramedics from American Medical Response and Honolulu Emergency Medical Services arrived soon after to assist, with EMS continuing life-saving treatment and transporting the man to a nearby emergency room.
