A 61-year-old woman and 62-year-old man are in serious condition Tuesday evening after being apparently hit by a car while crossing the street in Waikiki.

The accident took place at around 8 p.m. near the intersection of Nahua Street and Ala Wai Boulevard, according to the Honolulu Emergency Medical Services.

The woman was treated for head and back injuries, and the man was treated for lower leg injuries.

They were both taken to a trauma hospital.
