Bronny James works out with Lakers
The Los Angeles Lakers are weighing their moves in the upcoming NBA draft, in which they hold the No. 17 and 55 picks.
They got more information about that decision on Thursday, when they worked out Bronny James, the eldest son of superstar LeBron James, the Los Angeles Times reported.
He worked out for the Phoenix Suns on June 6, per the Arizona Republic.
Teams interested in the younger James have limited information on him, although he impressed at last month’s scouting combine in Chicago in both scrimmages and shooting drills.
The 19-year-old played just 25 games in his only season at Southern California, delayed after he suffered cardiac arrest during a practice last July and subsequently underwent a procedure to address a congenital heart defect. He didn’t make his college debut until Dec. 10.
A 6-foot-4 guard, James averaged 4.8 points, 2.8 rebounds and 2.1 assists per game, shooting 36.6 percent from the field over 19.3 minutes.

Should the Lakers select James, he could play with his father, the NBA’s all-time leading scorer. LeBron James holds a $51.4 million player option for the 2024-25 season with the Lakers.
Los Angeles has other decisions to make, including hiring a coach. UConn coach Dan Hurley turned down a lucrative offer from the Lakers earlier this week, and the team reportedly will interview former NBA guard and current ESPN analyst J.J. Redick this weekend.
The NBA draft will be held June 26-27 in New York.
