Motorcyclist, 22, dies in Wahiawa crash

A 22-year-old man died Sunday afternoon after he was thrown off his motorcycle in Wahiawa.

Police said that the motorcyclist was traveling northbound on Wilikina Drive when he veered off the roadway for unknown reasons and onto the right shoulder into a grassy berm area and then ejected into high grass fields.

He was pronounced dead at the scene. Police said it was unknown whether the man was wearing a helmet at the time of the collision. His identity was not immediately released.

Anyone who may have witnessed the crash is asked to call HPD’s Traffic Division, Vehicular Homicide Section at 808-723-3413. The investigation is ongoing.

This marked the 38th traffic fatality on Oahu this year compared to 35 at the same time last year.

Correction: An earlier version of this story provided the wrong age of the motorcyclist.
