Buffett gives away $2.8B

Investor Warren Buffett has given more than $2.8 billion worth of Berkshire Hathaway stock to five charities as part of his plan to gradually give away his fortune.

Buffett, who is Berkshire’s chairman and CEO, said in a news release Monday that he made his annual gifts last week. One of the main beneficiaries was the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation.

RevoluSun has hired Miles Topping as a photovoltaic engineer. He has 19 years of experience in engineering, including having served as a senior electro-optical systems engineer at BAE Systems for 15 years as well as provided electrical engineering services locally for large-scale infrastructure and power projects.

Honolulu HomeLoans has announced Susan "Suzie" Bass as a senior loan officer. She will specialize in residential mortgage loan refinancing and origination. Bass has nearly 15 years’ experience in the mortgage industry, including having served as a senior loan officer at Pacific Home Lending as well as a branch manager and loan officer at DHI Mortgage.
