Man dies during night dive near Kualoa Ranch

A man who was night diving with a group in waters near Chinaman’s Hat was pronounced dead by paramedics after he was pulled ashore last night.

The diver, described as in his 40s, went into distress 200 yards from shore around 9:47 p.m. last night, said Bryan Cheplic, spokesman for the city’s emergency services department.

Other divers brought him to shore and performed cardiopulmonary resuscitation along Kamehameha Highway until paramedics arrived. 

The man was pronounced dead at the scene by paramedics at 10:47 p.m., Cheplic said.
